"I still had my Afghan ID card. But when I showed it to the Croatian police and told them I was 15 they broke my card." For two years Ali has been in Bosnia. His stories of the violence of the Croatian border police are endless. Along with at least ten other boys, he lives in an abandoned house next to the Una River in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina. The route across the Balkans to Western Europe has become increasingly dangerous in recent years. Minors traveling alone, like Ali and his friends, are extremely vulnerable. Aid organizations often do not reach the children. In this border area, they have to survive on their own.
