Ahmet Polat is a Turkish-Dutch photographer living in Istanbul & Holland. After graduating from St. Joost Academy in Breda, 2000 he started exhibiting his work in Turkey and the Netherlands. Polat has been involved with stories on and with refugees since 1998. Understanding this fragile nature Polat’s work has been focused on creating a better visual representation, as well as empowering refugees to tell their own stories. His approach is always respectful and sensitive. In the Lost in Europe project he uses his EOSR camera to make images that contextual the stories he tells. Working together with Dan Archer, he makes it possible to keep minors anonymous using a combination of graphic work and photography. Polat also takes commercial and fashion photographs for several international magazines such as French and Turkish Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, New York Times, Paris Match, Marie Claire, Quest and Vice.
