The wind is already blowing before the day has even begun. Inside the cramped tents and containers of the Mavrovouni camp, the sound of the wind continues to dominate. It is never quiet here. Rows of white container shelters, interspersed with washing lines hung with fluttering clothes of all colours, shapes and sizes, provide shelter to a diverse group of people, mainly from countries such as Afghanistan, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Eritrea and Palestine. The 1,000 current residents of the Mavrovouni camp on Lesbos are waiting here for a decision on whether they can remain in Europe.
