In this dynamic workshop we will explore the challenge of creating images that accurately and humanely illustrate migration and climate change stories. Images often depict narrow visual frames and tropes such as scenes of disaster, people crossing borders or arriving in boats, which do not adequately capture the experiences of climate change migrants. The workshop features insights from acclaimed photographers and picture editors, including Kate Stanworth, Photographer and Picture Editor, along with Fabeha Monir, Visual Journalist & Filmmaker and Sandra Mehl, Documentary Photographer & Filmmaker and Aji Styawan, Photojournalist & Documentary Photographer. The primary goal of the workshop is to empower photo-journalists and anyone involved in commissioning photography, equipping them to approach topics like climate change and migration with informed empathy. Award-winning journalist Ismail Einashe will moderate the session.
