Elli Zotou is an Athens based journalist. Elli has been working for over a decade in the Greek daily national newspaper Avgi, reporting stories about human rights violations, migrant communities, refugees, hate crime and immigration policy at a Greek and European level. She has also covered extensively stories of police brutality, the demonstrations fueled by the economic crisis in Greece and the Greek far right, using her specialty, as a trained criminologist with a master’s degree in Crime, Law and Society from the School of Law of the University of Manchester. She is also member of the Journalists’ Union of the Athens Daily Newspapers and member of the Greek Society for the Study of Crime and Social Control. In 2018, she received a scholarship from Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the Summer Investigative Reporting Course of Columbia University in New York.
